Vitamin C Pills

Trying to find motivation to write a blog post or do ANYTHING today has been a true endeavor. So far I’ve eaten some oatmeal, taken a shower,  played Disco Zoo, and posted on Intsagram. All good things.

Have you ever seen my giant bottle of vitamin C pills? I had to refill my stash yesterday and thought it was worth a mention. Each pill has 833% percent of your daily recommended intake. Excessive? Perhaps, but extremely necessary. I haven’t been sick in almost 2 years (knock on wood). Whenever anyone is sick I am the first to offer my vitamin C services but no one ever takes me seriously. They really work!

Anyway, I always find myself Googling the strangest things when I should be writing papers or applying for jobs. Like just now I searched “wolf riding a bike” to see if I could find one of the shirts I have. I found a phone case version of it so that’s pretty cool. Why is wolf apparel so expensive? I would give anything for a wolf crew neck sweatshirt…. except $40.

As part of my “Personal Improvement Project” for my Psych of Motivation & Emotion class, my goal has been to write for at least 30 minutes every other day. I’ve been doing well with it. I still didn’t feel like posting my “Top 5 Favorite Songs” yet, lolz. Maybe next week.

P.S. check out my pretty flowers. ♥♥♥♥ Happy Sunday 🙂

The Challenge-Safety Continuum

There are certain words that I cringe to hear or say — pursed, beverage, blouse, the list goes on.

I, however, have a special place in my heart for the word CHALLENGE. Both for how it sounds and what it stands for. In my 21 years of wisdom (what font is used for sarcasm?), I have discovered that many of life’s choices lie on a challenge/safety continuum. You could choose the most difficult option, the easiest option, or somewhere in between. The safety end is your comfort zone, but you’ll never get anywhere just chillin’ on that side. Keeping a growth mindset helps to inch over to the other side. I’m no motivational speaker, but that’s just how I see it.

Real life example: Today, I knew I had to work on a blog post to publish for this weekend (I’ve been posting one each week). I have a word document permanently open on my computer that lists ideas and partially written excerpts. I could have picked from any of those and quickly created a post. However, I decided to challenge myself to dig deep and write something more meaningful than “Here are my top 5 favorite songs of all time” (coming soon, lolz). Part of the point of me having this blog is to practice writing  (about real things) and I feel like I haven’t done much of that yet.

Although I have been known to say “screw it, what’s the easiest way to do this?”, I try to find little things to challenge me every day. Some people think it’s ridiculous that I get up at 5:30am to go to the gym, but for me it started as a self-dare. I did it one day just to see if I could and now it’s something that simply works for me. This blog is another thing I did to challenge myself to stretch my brain and share my ideas.

My latest challenge comes in the form of Lent. I’m not even Catholic so technically I’m not required to give anything up. However, I decided to cut out all unhealthy foods until Easter. This includes sweets (I also don’t like that word), fried foods, and overly processed foods. Not that I eat a lot of those, but I am just daring myself to delete them completely. I think I’ll be feeling pretty good by the end of it.

So in case you didn’t get the message, go try something that challenges you! Take the stairs, run for an extra 10 minutes, finish something you’ve been procrastinating, talk to a stranger (not in a creepy way), apply for a new job, …okay you’re probably annoyed by this now.

On a fun note: Have you heard of the app Disco Zoo? It’s a game where you have your own zoo and you get to rescue and take care of animals and have disco parties with them. It has consumed a lot of my time these past few days. Check it out.

It’s Not a Leap Year (February Favorites)

My life is going by so fast. How is it already 2014? February marked the beginning of my last semester of college. Who wants to give me a job? Was “rabbit” the first word you said this morning? (I hope so.)

It’s also continued to be excruciatingly cold. There is absolutely no more room for snow and the sidewalks are mazes of ice. But anyway, here are my fascinatingly fearless February favorites (wut).

url    Organix Teatree Mint Shampoo & Conditioner – This stuff is a bit pricey for my taste but OMG is it spectacular. I used it back in high school and just refused to buy it since because I am poor. However, I found it on sale a few weeks ago and decided to splurge. It makes me never want to get out of the shower and I find myself trying to smell my own hair during the day (awk).

PA270169    Revlon Matte Balm – I’m always on the lookout for these types of lipstick-y things. I hate regular lipstick and shiny lipgloss things so I really like these. The color I have is Sultry (second in from the left) but I want to get other ones. The color stays for a long time and it has a minty scent (mint is the way to go). They’re not shiny or sparkly at all which is perf.

photo   Wolf Phone Case – lolz I got this on Amazon a few weeks ago. It’s perfect. It has 2 parts, one rubber-y and then a hard outer shell. Now I have a phone case to match all my wolf shirts.

Rose Gold WatchRose Gold Sparkly Watch – Target is life. I started wearing a watch when I went to Italy because I wouldn’t always have my phone to see the time. I love those giant gold watches (like the Michael Kors ones) but I like how this one is a bit smaller. I think I’d get annoyed of the giant ones on my wrist all day.

There are two songs I’ve been listening to on repeat for the month as well. It alternates on which one is stuck in my head during a given moment.

Classic by MKTO – catchy and mood-boosting

Sight of the Sun by Fun.Fun fact, I always pretend to be hipster and tell people that I saw Fun. back in 2010 when no one had ever heard of them and they were opening for Panic! at the Disco.
